Well, the lad from Brum only went and did it, didn’t he? Connor “The Brumtown BOMBER” Tierney successfully defended his welterweight crown against Danny “The Bastard” Christie, headlining his home show at BKFC 77 Birmingham in front of a packed crowd that came to see the local hero in action .

I’ll hold my hands up — I was one of the many who thought Danny might catch him with a big one and turn the fight on its head. And you know what? Danny did land the shot — but Connor ate it, walked through it, and cracked on with an absolute masterclass. He can take a bigger fucking punch than I ever thought he could, and he’s definitely changed a lot of people’s opinions on him — mine included. He’s not just a slick, gifted fighter — he’s actually hard as fuck too. He’s got that chin.
From the First Bell
From the moment the first bell rang, they went at each other — no messing, no feeling-out round, just pure bare-knuckle violence. Both lads were happy to stand and trade knuckles in the middle of the squared circle, but what really surprised me was Connor’s clinch work.

We all know Tierney can move — he floats about like he’s on ice, makes lads miss and look daft. But against Danny, he showed he’s got a nasty grappling game too. Every time they got in tight, Connor punished Christie with brutal body shots — how the Carlisle hard bastard didn’t fold from some of those, I’ll never know.
Danny’s Grit, Connor’s Class
By the end of round three, Danny was in a proper state — busted ear, eyelid cut from maybe the first shot Connor landed, but true to form, the man wasn’t ever going to quit on his own.

As round four was about to get going, the ref called time to check Connor’s hand — and when Danny’s corner took a long look at their lad, they knew they had to do the right thing. The fight was waved off. Smart move, but nobody in that building doubted Danny’s heart for one second.
World Title Next?
So, what’s next for Connor Tierney? We know exactly what he wants — a shot at the BKFC world title. And you know what? He’s bloody earned it. He’s officially the UK’s biggest ticket seller, he’s headlining shows, putting bums on seats, and bringing an army of fans wherever he goes. Give the lad his shot — it’s only right.
Simon Haycock — Connors coach and manager at Fitness Factory Birmingham — commented after the fight, saying “Look at what Connor’s done … it’s his turn for a shot at the world title now … he’s earned it.” And he’s spot on.
Now, I know what a few of you are thinking — what about Rico “BonBon” Franco? Shouldn’t he get the next world title crack as the European champ? Usually, I’d agree and also in a Huge Franco fan . Rico did have his shot at the world strap and came up just short against Austin trout .. now going the distance with trout was an achievement in itself — but then he went on to beat Jimmy “The King” Sweeney in an absolute war of a trilogy fight to claim the European welterweight title. Fair play. Rico’s a savage too And without a doubt deserves another shot at gold but we think Connor has earned a shot now .. we’re just being totally honest
Slaveski vs. Lane — The Next Step
Next up for the BKFC welterweight world title picture is Slaveski vs. Lane at BKFC‑79 Sturgis — that fight is going to decide who’s siting at the very top.
And you know what makes sense? Connor fights the winner of Slaveski vs. Lane for that worl
d title — then once he’s world champ, we get the rematch everyone wants: Tierney vs. Franco, but this time with a world title on the line.
Imagine That…
Just imagine it — Tierney vs. Franco again, but bigger, meaner, with a world championship at stake. 🤯 We believe both Rico and Connor can become world champion — it’s just a matter of who gets there first. And I know for a fact both teams would sign the contract in a heartbeat. For me, it’s all about timing — but when it happens, you better believe we’ll be ringside.
