An enthralling night at BKFC 77 in Birmingham was loaded with brutal one punch knockouts and gruelling wars but the night was made and centred around ‘The Brumtown Bomber’ who absolutely delivered in the showpiece event against a hardened veteran and good friend, Danny Christie.
Over five thousand people packed the BP Pulse Live arena in Birmingham to witness bare knuckle fighting championship’s biggest and best event in the united kingdom to date. Their 77th numbered event delivered in every capacity throughout, from the prelims right the way to the top of the bill.
Conor McGregor ‘f****g livid’ with no post fight interview!
Typically, it’s custom with sporting events such as boxing, MMA and BKFC to interview the main event winner post fight with a lot of promotions interviewing all main card winners. That was not the case for ‘The Brumtown Bomber’ at BKFC 77.
The decision to not let the champion speak to viewers angered part owner Conor McGregor, who took to social media in a now-deleted explosive rant.
Branding the contest ‘incredible’ and ‘high-level,’ McGregor called: ‘Let’s hear the mic, get the mic in there. Get him on the mic. Where’s the mic? Where’s the mic? Mic, mic, mic, mic.
‘Get the mic in there, get the f*****g mic in there! Who called it there? The referee? The doctor? Who called that?!’
The former two weight UFC champion continued ‘Ah, sure, who needs to hear from the hometown hero who just defended his belt in his hometown in a sold-out arena in the biggest fight of his life in front of all his people?
‘The Brumtown Bomber’ Delivers In Front Of His People!
At just 30 years of age we are now looking at the established, certified, the king, the top dog, however you want to label it; Connor Tierney is the face of BKFC in the UK. He now boasts a 9-2 BK record and fought some of the best UK names to ever throw down.
His ferocity and speed was far too much for Danny ‘The Bastard’ Christie too handle at times but the blistering attacks from the hometown fighter were matched with big responses that had Tierney wobbled on occasion however, not quite enough to change the course of the fight.
With that said, Christie certainly didn’t look out of place in the BKFC circle with a man of Tierney’s calibre and high level boxing skillset and as we know, one punch can change everything. But, not on this occasion, as the champion dominated his way through the fight to a bit of an anti-climax to the evening when the bout was waved off at the start of the fourth round after Christie lent down on one knee at the bottom rope.
The decision to call it off left fans in attendance confused until it was later made clear that whilst there was a pause in action Danny Christie had turned away to lean down and his corner pulled him out of there, very sensibly, we must add.
The challenger was willing to carry on but the extensive damage to his face included some concerning gashes that would of only got worse from more punches landed.
There has been the usual talk online by trolls suggesting ‘The Bastard’ had quit which is certainly not the case and we would like to make that perfectly clear.

Franco vs Tierney. Is now the right time to run it back?
BKFC president Dave Feldman recently said that Tierney had seen his ticket sales take him to one of the top three highest grossing fighters in the entire company. A remarkable achievement for somebody that was essentially fighting bare knuckle for free not too long back.
Those days are long gone, it’s big cheques and big fish only for the UK welterweight champion now. So, what’s next? He has made no bones about it, he would love to re-visit a fight with current BKFC European champion Ricardo Franco.
And in all honesty, if you think the spectacle of this past weekend is anything to go by then a potential fight between the two old rivals would break even bigger records were they to fight on UK soil.
Both are ranked number three and four respectively and with Austin Trout no longer the champion of the world in the division, the vacant title is being contested for by Gorjan Slaveski and Julian Lane at BKFC Sturgis in August.
Could this create an opening for Tierney vs Franco as an eliminator to face the winner of the aforementioned contest? It would certainly raise the stakes aswell as being a title unification of the UK and European championships.
It’s a fight that the UK scene would relish, with Tierney previously stating he ‘wasn’t developed back then’ and he has improved a considerable amount since 2019. Which is clear to see with some incredible performances during his rise under the BKFC banner.
What does the future hold for ‘The Bastard’?

We will find out very soon as he shares his afterthoughts in a video on his official YouTube channel and says “I’ve already made a decision on what I’m doing in the future and where I’m going next but I’m not going to announce that just yet. I’m gonna sit and chill out and enjoy some cake and junk food and put my feet up for a couple of days”
Seemingly it looks like his BKFC journey could be over with the concern over the amount of scar tissue he now has he went on to add “My skin can’t take it no more, that’s the truth, the doctor was laughing at the amount of scar tissue that’s actually there!”
Adding to that, ‘The Bastard’ also gave thanks to the promotion, fighters and fans for ‘an incredible journey’
“I just want to extend my thankyou to anybody and everybody that came to that event, what an event! All the BKFC staff, the ISKA, everybody on the roster, all fans and followers, a massive thankyou it’s been an incredible journey, what a journey it’s been for me, as I said on a podcast not long ago, if I ever thought in my wildest dreams I could of achieved a fraction of what I’ve achieved in the BKFC in three years, yeah, what a time to be alive!”
Respect Always Between Tierney & Christie..

Post fight the challenger had called the champion to wish him congratulations and that they would arrange to meet with their families. Which is great to see in combat sports, although it’s filled with violence and it’s why we all watch it there is nothing more satisfying than seeing genuine gratitude and friendship between two fighters that have just gone to battle with one and other.
Similarly, BKFC fighters Ricardo Franco and Jimmy Sweeney shared a car ride after their six round war in Florence, Italy recently. I’m sure a lot of readers would agree that this is more enjoyable to see than some of these fake beefs across many other combat sports that are created in weak attempts to draw eyes in.
That’s not to say we don’t like a bit of animosity but it has to be genuine. As genuine as the heartfelt thankyou’s between ‘The Bastard’ to ‘the Brumtown Bomber’ post fight this past weekend.
Every big name fighter headlining in their home city needs a big name dance partner to make it main event worthy and Danny Christie was exactly that. Serving up a modern day classic that will never be forgotten!
