Aswell as former gloved professionals from the boxing and mixed martial arts fields there is another debutant that’s swapping the gloves for the raw bare knuckle fighting championsip. Ginge from shard end who’s real name is Liam Smyth told FullForceCombat that he is looking to make a huge impact as he opens the card in his home city.
A trader by day with his shop ‘Ginges Bargains’ he is raring to go on Saturday evening at BKFC 77 when he squares off against another debutant Rafael Witkowski. When speaking with us at the press conference the hometown fighter said “I’ve seen my opponent now, he’s a big lump. a scary lump that’s been getting me out of bed every day and the fire is in me and I can’t wait”
“This will be my 12th fight in the ring and he’s had 25 in a ring but a different sport as he’s from a different background I think so hopefully my boxing is up there to deal with a big man like that, his hands are twice the size of mine but id probably say it’s a 50/50 fight. I’d probably say I am the underdog but I like that, I honestly can’t wait, and I can promise all blood, guts and glory”
The words of a fighting man who’s done his fare share of tickets and wants to put on a show for the paying supporters in his home city. When asked what it means to be on such a high level card alongside local legends such as Frankie Gavin he said “I just can’t believe that I’m actually on it, as a fight fan this fight card is mad so to even be on this card is a blessing because otherwise I’d be here just buying a ticket but instead I’ll be walking to the ring, it’s just surreal!”
The fire is lit for Ginge, he told us of his nerves and excitement even just attending the press conference which just shows how ready he is for an opportunity on the biggest sports platform in the world.
“I’ve got pre fight nerves coming here today[press conference] but it just shows I’m ready for this, I’m ready for this moment and I’m going to take it with both hands!”
On the motivation for after his debut and what his ambitions are in BKFC the man from shard end said “I want tot travel the world with it to be honest, I’d love a fight anywhere maybe in Europe, Dubai and the who knows? Maybe America!?”
Set to be first fight on the card which is an extra bit of satisfaction for Ginge who has all but sold out of his ticket allocation as he shows off his wad of cash from sales he said “I don’t know what the record is for someones debut of selling tickets in the BKFC but I’m looking on breaking that record”
A big hitting heavyweight with ambition of shifting big amounts of tickets and travelling the world yet Ginge is under no illusion that he’s in for an easy nights work against the dangerous Witkowski who weighed in at a whopping 260lbs for his last contest, with dynamite in his fists this colossal heavyweight fight has war written all over it!
Be sure to tune in from the beginning of BKFC 77 prelims, you don’t want to miss this heavyweight banger!
